When you really sacrifice there is:
Pain - When God asks for something there is "pain", because sacrificing means that you´ll give something we count on, we need, something very valuable. So, if you put something on the althar and it doesn´t cause you PAIN, then you´re not sacrificing. God knows what to ask for to make our dreams come true: He told Abraham to sacrifice his son, the son he loled the most, the thing that meant everything to him.
Dependence - Sacrifice leaves you depending on God! The person is 100% in God´s hands, he/she gives it all. The one who sacrifices, makes God be his/her last resource and has nothing and noone left to help him/her, it just that person and his/her faith.
Challenge - If your sacrifice is not a challenge for you, if it´s not life or death, all or nothing, then it´s not a real sacrifice, because when God tells us to do it, it puts us in a challenge position!!
Renounce - We have to understand that our flesh wants to run away from sacrifice, because that means we have to renounce something material and evrything that it takes to laeve behind for our spirit to remain strong! The thing is that what we want is way much better than what we sacrifice.
Certainty - Obeying and doing what God wants us to do, bring a certainty within ourselves that assures us that He will make our biggest dream come true!
If there isn´t pain, dependence, challenge, renounce or certainty, then there is not obedience or sacrifice and without them the promises of God do not exist.
The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” Genesis 22:15-18
