He lived
in Harran, with his family, when he received an order from God, he was supposed
to leave behind the land he was living in and go to a land that God would show
him.
The Lord added to what He sais to Abram: "I will make you into a great
nation " (Genesis 12:1-2).
Obey what
he was asked to do not knowing where he was going is a real attitude that shows
faith and courage, things that are very important for those who want to receive
God´s promises and be blessed.
God told
him to leave, but He didn´t tell Abram where to go; that´s different from what
happens mowadays because when God tells us to sacrifice we know all the things
God is going to do in our lives, we have His word as a guarantee, and even
knowing this, many people still don´t obey. Maybe Abram doubted, thought about
it a lot, more than anything because he was not alone, he was with his wife,
nephew and other people. However, that didn´t stop him from obeying.
He
believed in God´s promises. He sacrificed everything he was asked to sacrifece.
Abram´s
obedience brought him an answer. God changed his name to Abraham.
But
Abraham did more than what he could do, so God had no choice but to do more
than what he had promised, he had no coice but to make a promise to Abraham His
servant!
"The angel
of the Lord called to
Abraham from heaven a second time and said,
“I swear by myself, declares the Lord,
that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only
son, I will surely bless you and make your
descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on
the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their
enemies, and through your offspring all nations on
earth will be blessed, because
you have obeyed me.” (read genesis 12 to 25)
Fear had
no room in his life. That feeling paralizes those who want to "see
to belive". And those who live being guided by their feelings don´t obey
the voice of God, I mean, the voice of the faith, because what He asks, to a
lot of people, is madness.
God wants
you to take an attitude of faith to bless you. Are you ready? Are you willing
to obey the voice of God doing what He asks?
The
promeses were made to everyone, but those who belong to this faith, the faith
of Abraham, are the ones who have the courage to obey, and to enjoy these
promises!!
You can
say you believe but it nothing if you don´t take an attitude sacrificing what
God commands.
Don´t let
fear stops you from being blessed in every aspect of your life.
