A mountaineer, desesperate to reach the top of a very big mountain, began his journey after years of preparation. But, since he just wanted to do it to get the glory for himself, decided to climb the mountain alone.
As he started ths climb, he decided not to make any stops because that would take him time.That way, he kept going until he find himself in the middle of the night.
It was darker and darker where he was, so he could barely see. Everything seemed to be black and the moon and the stars were covered by lots of clouds.
When he found himself going through a narrow way, almost reaching the top, he slipped and fell rolling down the mountain.
As he was falling at a very high speed, and deeply scared of what could happen, he remembered moments of his life, some where happy moments, but others, sad.
He thought that he was getting closer to death, that there was no way out. Suddenly, something made him stop; it was the rope that was holding him and that was tied up to a part of the mountain.
In that moment of silence and loneliness, there was nothing he could do, so he shouted as loud as he could:
- My God, help me!!!
Suddenly, a voice coming from heaven answered:
-WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?
-Save me my LORD!!!
-DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE I CAN SAVE YOU?
-I´m a hundred percent sure You can!!!
-THEN CUT THE ROPE.
There was a moment of silence. And after that, the man started to hold on to the rope more and more.
-WHY ARE YOU DOUBTING? DON´T YOU BELIEVE I´M GOD AND THAT I CAN SAVE YOU?
-Yes Sir, but...
-BELIEVE, AND YOU´LL SEE MY GLORY, CUT THE ROPE!!
The rescue team tell how is it that they found the death body the next day, his hands were holding the rope and he was about 2 METRES FROM THE GROUND.
When God asks us to sacrifice, He is asking us to "cut the rope" and if we do that "crazy thing", He changes our lives just as He changed Abraham´s, because all those who own this kind of faith, turn themselves children and inherit the promises that were made to Abraham (read Galatians 3)
And all those who don´t take the chance and do what God asks, died without seeing God´s power and glory in their lives, their lives don´t change.
It wasn´t in vain what was promised: "For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; i will help you." (Isaiah 41.13)
Now, how is it that God will take our hand if we don´t trust Him, if we don´t obey what He commands us!!
Sacrifice is Madness, but is the only thing that can make our lives change a hundred percent! From poor to rich, from the last to the first, from humilliation to exaltation, from being left behind to be valued, from being slave to king and a testimony of the living God!
