A very interesting article,a postgraduated architect in marketing, said something like this: we are used to relate the word death to the absence of life and that is a mistake. There are other types of death and we need to die everyday.Death is nothing but a passage, a transformation. There is no plant without the death of a seed; there´s no embryo without the death of the ovule and the sperm; there´s no butterfly without the death of a caterpillar, and that is obvious!
Death is nothing but the starting point to the beginning of something new. It is the boundary between the past and the future. If you want to be an academic person, kill the teenager that´s inside of you that thinks that he still has a lot of time ahead.
Do you want to be a good professional? Then kill the careless collage student that thinks that life is all about studying or enought to pass exams.
Do you want to have a good relationship? Then kill inside you the insecure and jealous person who thinks that he can do plans on his/her own without a need to divide share, projects and time with somebody else.
So, every process of evolution requires us to kill our old "me", inferior. And which one is the risk of not doing that? The risk lies in trying to be two people at the same time, loosing our focus, compromising our productivity and, finally, damaging our success.
Many people do not evolve because they stick to what they were, they don´t project what they are going to be or what they want to be. They want a new phase, without forgetting the way they used to think or act. They end up becoming unfinished projects, hybrids, chidish adults.
We can even act like kids sometimes, as long as we don´t kill the childish virtudes that are going to be necessary for us as adults: jokes, spontaneous smiles, vitality, creativity, etc.
But, if we want to be adults, we have to, necessarily, kill childish attitudes to act like adults.
Do you want to be someone( leader, professional, father or mother, citizen, friend) better and more evolved? Then, what do you need to kill today so a new person will be born, the person you wanted to be.
Think about that and die!
But, don´t forget to be born better than before!
God bless you,
Pastor Robson Cavalcante
